David Norem, life cycle manager at MindClick SGM™, combines deep technical expertise as an engineer with a passion for sustainability. He specializes in conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), greenhouse gas inventories, and in developing corporate environmental strategy.
Mr. Norem’s experience includes solid waste management, energy auditing and industrial pollution prevention. Before joining MindClick SGM, he implemented innovative solid waste practices through California’s Alameda County StopWa$te Partnership. He conducted Green Business verification audits on behalf of the San Francisco Bay Area Green Business Program, and performed greenhouse gas audits for a multi-site biotech company. He also provided cost effective pollution prevention guidance on water optimization and energy efficiency for Decode Genetics and RR Donnelley.
In addition to his auditing capabilities, Mr. Norem brings hands-on experience in implementing sustainability efforts on a tight budget. Among his recent projects, Mr. Norem led the creation of a groundbreaking LCA for recycled glass countertop manufacturer Vetrazzo LLC and conducted a lifecycle study for GigaOM comparing the relative effect of greenhouse gas emissions for Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday. He was the Sustainability Manager for Mervyn’s retail chain, where he chaired the Sustainability Council with the goal to develop, implement, and accelerate a corporate strategy based on the principles of environmental sustainability on a very tight budget. He also has worked on a life cycle assessment project for the U.S. National Energy Technology Laboratory, assessing the impact of ethanol production and fueling infrastructure compared to gasoline.
Dave holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California – Berkeley and a dual bachelor’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
